Google’s upcoming “Aluminium OS” leaks just before the Android Show

Shortly before Google’s scheduled presentation at the Android Show, a preview of its next‑generation Android for PC—codenamed Aluminium OS—surfaced online. Insider *Mystic Leaks* posted a 16‑minute video that appears to showcase a fully functional operating system.

The clip opens with the familiar Android boot screen and logo, then transitions into the device setup flow. The onboarding experience and overall UI closely resemble standard Android, but everything is scaled down for a laptop environment.

Key visual cues include:
- A taskbar and app launcher reminiscent of Chrome OS, yet the home screen now displays desktop‑style icons alongside Google’s search bar.
- Within the Settings app, the system identifies itself as “Android version 17.”

Alongside the video, screenshots of a new line of devices—titled Googlebooks—have also leaked. These appear to be notebooks designed to run Aluminium OS.

The Android Show I/O Edition 2026 is slated for May 12 at 10:00 PT (20:00 MSK). Attendees can expect several major announcements outlining the future roadmap of Android on PCs.
